...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM NOON MST /1 PM MDT/ TO 7 PM MST /8 PM MDT/ TUESDAY DUE TO STRONG WINDS AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY FOR PORTIONS OF NORTHEAST ARIZONA...

The National Weather Service in Flagstaff has issued a Red Flag Warning due to strong winds and low relative humidity, which is in effect from noon MST /1 PM MDT/ to 7 PM MST /8 PM MDT/ Tuesday.

* AFFECTED AREA...Locations near Chinle, Dilkon, Eagar- Springerville, Holbrook, Kayenta, Kykotsmovi, Saint Johns, Snowflake-Taylor, Tuba City and Winslow.

* WINDS...West 20 to 30 MPH with gusts up to 50 MPH.

* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 8 percent.

* IMPACTS...The combination of gusty winds and low humidity can cause fire to rapidly grow in size and intensity before first responders can contain them. Fine fuels will be particularly vulnerable through the period of this warning.

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring or are imminent. A combination of strong winds and low relative humidities can contribute to extreme fire behavior.

* WHAT...West winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts from 40 to 50 mph expected.

* WHERE...Portions of northeastern Arizona from Flagstaff north and east.

* WHEN...From noon MST/1 PM MDT to 7 PM MST/8 PM MDT Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Areas of blowing dust and reduced visibility are possible in the Little Colorado River Valley and Chinle Valley.

Secure loose outdoor objects that could be blown around or damaged by the wind.

Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles, such as RVs, campers, and tractor trailers. Use extra caution.
